Seven Best Tips for Savvy Flight Comparison Shoppers
Here it is, down and dirty. Seven things to keep in mind when flight comparison shopping.
One: Shop multiple sites as not all travel sites have the same fares. This is especially important on international flights.
Two: Do a flexible search. Sometimes just changing hour of departure can save, but many times shifting things a day or two can be significant.
Three: Check the individual carrier’s site. This seem like it defeats the purpose of comparison sites, but more and more airlines are keeping their best prices for their own websites.
Four: Alerts! This is a no-brainer for keeping track of specials. Sign-up for a preferred route and city.
Five: Be first to search. Check online travel forums and you will find out the best times to search for fares. Certain late night hours and weekends will bring revised fares and great deals.
Six: Search often. Carriers can change fares three times a day on weekdays and one time each on weekends. A quick search and scan through the day can lead to big savings as airlines optimize prices.
Seven: Combine airfare and hotel. This does not mean you are necessarily getting a lower airfare, just that the hotel saving helps subsidize the flight cost.
Keep these seven simple things in mind and you be assured of getting the lowest fare available.
